ViewsHub has launched a performance survey poll of the US Presidential Candidates, with Kamala Harris currently top.

Kamala Harris tops performance survey poll, while Biden and Trump are neck and neck.

Biden deemed ‘risk averse’, ‘highly principled’ and ‘leisurely, relaxed’.

President Trump seen as ‘self-centred’, ‘says anything to get things done’, and ‘retaliatory’, while also ‘lacking engagement’ and being ‘poor at persuasion’.

Mike Pence seen by most as ‘honest’, ‘intuitive’, and ‘caring’.

Kamala Harris seen as ‘persistent and tenacious’, ‘passionate about key interests’, and ‘optimistic’

The Senator and Vice-Presidential Candidate for the Democratic Party is currently ranked first with an Uber style score of 3.9 out of 5 stars just ahead of Donald Trump and Joe Biden who are level-pegging on 3.4 and well ahead of Republican Vice-Presidential incumbent, Mike Pence on 2.9.

Each rating is based upon the average of the candidate’s score out of five across each of six areas: ‘gets things done’; ‘has the skills and competence for the job’; ‘responds well to changing circumstances’; ‘responds quickly and positively to stakeholders’; ‘inspires others to do their best’; ‘earns trust from allies and respect from adversaries’.

The survey also measures user perceptions of the candidates’ individual character traits across three broad categories: ‘energy’ (how they work); ‘interpersonal’ (how they interact); and ‘intelligence’ (how they think). Within each of these categories users are asked to rate, on a sliding scale, each characters’ traits. One example featured a scale with ‘self-centred’ at one end through to ‘selfless’ at the other.

The survey aggregates in realtime the respondents’ results to determine each candidates’ top three traits. Democrat nominee, Joe Biden’s key traits were deemed to be ‘risk averse’, ‘highly principled’ and ‘leisurely, relaxed’. This was in contrast to President Trump who was deemed to be ‘self-centred’, ‘says anything to get things done’, and ‘retaliatory’, while also ‘lacking engagement’ and being ‘poor at persuasion’. Interestingly, many of Trump’s top traits fell within the interpersonal category.

Mike Pence is seen by those surveyed as being broadly even in the following three areas: ‘honest’, ‘intuitive’, and ‘caring’. Meanwhile, Kamala Harris is deemed favourably by respondents with her top three traits being ‘persistent and tenacious’, ‘passionate about key interests’, and ‘optimistic’.

The unique ratings platform has been designed by ViewsHub and will run until polling day with results polled in realtime.

Commenting on the results, Ab Banerjee, founder and CEO of ViewsHub, said:

“These results are fascinating. They reveal that in terms of overall performance Donald Trump is only marginally behind Kamala Harris and is level pegging with Joe Biden.

“Perhaps the most useful insight can be taken from the individual character ratings. It’s important that each of the candidates identify that they’re a part of a two-man team. Evidence shows that for teams to perform at their best they need to have cognitive diversity, different problem-solving abilities and complementary traits. The more collective skills you can bring to the table then the more problems you can can fix.

“On the Democratic ticket, Kamala Harris is a great fit for Joe Biden, with the latter regularly faces jibes for being too old and lacking the energy needed to hold office. Harris brings with her bucket loads of passion, drive and energy.

“Also, as the first African American, the first Asian-American, and only the third female Vice-Presidential running mate, 55-year-old Kamala Harris brings relative youth, energy, and diversity, which are all areas where Biden falls short.

“On the Republican side Pence was invaluable to Trump at the last election where he offered the ‘rookie’ Trump credibility among social conservatives and evangelical Republican voters. His strong free market credentials and experience of public office were valuable when he was first selected, but they remain assets to have.

“Pence’s character traits also act as a good complement to Trump’s. For example, according to those polled, Trump is widely regarded as being self-centred and untrustworthy. In contrast, Mike Pence is seen by many voters as being more trustworthy and having greater integrity than the President.

“It will be important to see how voters’ perceptions of the different candidates change over the next two months or whether people have already made up their minds and if their views remain constant.”
